김규진

Artist representation by URBK LAB

Kim Gyu zin is an artist who explores how memories become material and time solidifies into form, using childhood comfort dolls and toys as his medium. He reveals the dolls’ worn, torn, and partially missing states without restoration, interpreting their imperfections and wear as the very places where love once resided. The time spent repeatedly holding, hugging, and even biting them remains not as scars but as records of affection. Furthermore, by casting toys cherished in childhood and familiar popular images, then transforming them into solid materials like metal and resin, he substitutes the seemingly fleeting innocence of childhood with a permanent sculptural language. His work originates from personal memory yet evokes the collective recollections of those who lived through the same era, quietly prompting reflection on the sensations and time that linger even after loss.
