담보는 1980년 한국에서 태어나 서울을 기반으로 활동하는 예술가이다. 조소를 전공한 그녀는 평면작업과 입체, 설치 작업을 통해 폭넓은 예술 세계를 펼쳐나간다. 2023년 어반브레이크 오픈콜 아티스트로 선발되어 판화와 드로잉 콜라주 입체 오브제 시리즈를 선보이며 대중에게 신선한 인상을 안겼다. 담보의 작품 속에는 시각화 된 감정의 함축적인 자연 풍경이 담겨있다. 탄생과 소멸을 반복하는 자연의 유연함은 작품 속에서 인간의 다양한 감정으로 표현된다. 즉흥적으로 잘라지고 다듬어지는 콜라주 작업 방식은 교차하는 감정들의 코드를 나타낸다. 오늘도 ‘긍정’ 이라는 감정을 오리고 ‘치유’와 ‘희망’의 메세지를 캔버스에 붙인다.
DamBo is an artist born in Korea in 1980 and based in Seoul. Having majored in sculpture, she unfolds a broad artistic world through two-dimensional works, three-dimensional pieces, and installations. Selected as an Urban Break Open Call Artist in 2023, she presented a series of print, drawing collage, and three-dimensional objects, leaving a fresh impression on the public. Dambo’s works contain visualizations of emotions embedded within suggestive natural landscapes. The flexibility of nature, which endlessly cycles through birth and decay, is expressed in her pieces as the diverse emotions of humanity. Her collage technique, involving the spontaneous cutting and shaping of materials, represents the intersecting codes of these emotions. Today, she cuts out the emotion of ‘positivity’ and pastes messages of ‘healing’ and ‘hope’ onto the canvas.
